Photographic timeline of Physical Educations journey from the Mob Games of the 1800's to the National Curriculum lead PE seen today.

From the 1800's where children were barely entitle to a basic education, let alone Physical Education, a lot has changed. Children initiated the inclusion of games into school setting via 'mob games', which were eventually modified and used to teachers advantages to manage behaviour via what is known as social controll. With included discipline surrounding games came the cult of athleticism which was the beginning of using sport to educate the whole child. Women found their feet with sport with help from characters such as Madame Osteburg, around the same time the 1902 Model Course was introduced - the first sign of structured physical activity.
